About the Press Ganey Survey

South Bend Orthopaedics measures all aspects of patient satisfaction.  To ensure that we are holding ourselves to the highest standards, we partner with an independent patient satisfaction company, Press Ganey of South Bend, Indiana.  For more than 25 years, Press Ganey has been the industry’s recognized leader in health care patient satisfaction.  Press Ganey works with more than 10,000 health care organizations nationwide, including 50% of all U.S. hospitals, to improve clinical and business outcomes. Press Ganey was founded in 1985 by Dr. Irwin Press, PhD. and Dr. Rod Ganey, PhD.

Who Receives the Survey?

The electronic Medical Practice survey is emailed to South Bend Orthopaedics patients within a few weeks of their appointment.  Patients take a multi-question survey and provide comments regarding specific aspects of care.  We use this feedback to improve all aspects of the clinic experience.  Our goal is to provide each patient with an exceptional experience of care. 

Do you post all comments?

We are committed to posting positive and negative feedback.  However, we do not post comments that are libelous, slanderous, profane, or those that risk the privacy of our patients.

Why don’t we see patient ratings and comments for every doctor?

Currently, not all doctor ratings and comments are available. The number of rated physicians will increase over time. The more ratings a provider receives, the more accurate and statistically reliable the data is. Providers with less than 30 ratings may not have patient ratings listed on their profiles.

Why is posting Press Ganey ratings and comments so important?

Today’s society increasingly demands transparency and access to information which allows for informed decision making. SBO believes that by giving current and prospective patients and their families access to doctor ratings and comments, they gain additional insight into what other patient interactions have been like, and they can make more informed decisions when choosing a health care provider.

Internally, we use the data and comments on Press Ganey surveys to help our Patient Experience Team focus on issues of great importance to our patients and families. Access to patient satisfaction information allows us to make changes in policies, procedures and communication techniques to ensure that we are providing the best possible health care experience for our patients and families.
